Sponsor Deal Has Dufner Wearing "Save The Crew" Cap At Memorial

Dufner said that he is planning to stick with a local theme in conjunction with MSF Real Estate CapitalMSF REAL ESTATE CAPITAL

Golfer Jason Dufner has "spent this season on the PGA Tour without a hat sponsor," but wore a "custom-made Save the Crew hat" to his pre-tournament press conference for The Memorial, according to Adam Jardy of the COLUMBUS DISPATCH. Dufner said that he is "planning to stick with a local theme in conjunction with MSF Real Estate Capital." The sponsorship "came about" when MSF Real Estate Assistant VP Jarvis Woodson, who is both a golf and Crew fan, "approached Dufner’s agent about sponsoring his headgear for the Memorial." After "initially declining the proposition," Dufner’s camp "acquiesced when the Ohio-based concept was introduced." Woodson said, "We’re proud members of the community and we love Columbus sports and want to save the Crew like everybody else does." All of the hats, including the Save the Crew one, "were for sale on Dufner’s msfcap.com website, though the Crew one has sold out." One-quarter of the proceeds "benefit the Jason Dufner Foundation ... and one-quarter of the net proceeds from the 'Save the Crew' hats go back to the campaign." Dufner: "I got a sponsorship for a hat and decided to come up with some Columbus- and Ohio-themed deals for this week, being the defending champion and being from Ohio. ... The hat thing with me has been pretty popular this week" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 5/30). Dufner: "People here are really passionate about soccer. I wouldn’t say I’m extremely passionate about soccer, but I can identify with what they’re going through, being from Cleveland, losing the Browns" (GOLFWEEK.com, 5/29).
