Sports Business Awards: NBC Sports Group Wins Again For Media

From the NHL All-Star Game to the Super Bowl to the Winter Olympics, NBC Sports Group had a three-week run last winter in which it produced some of the country’s biggest sports events. Its high-quality presentation of those events propelled NBC to be honored as the Best In Sports Media at the '18 Sports Business Awards. “It was an extraordinary thing to be a part of,” said NBC Broadcasting & Sports Chair Mark Lazarus. Lazarus was quick to credit his team for “bringing their best effort against every property that we have in a short window." Lazarus: "They worked tireless hours and have incredible dedication. For me to be part of it and see the folks that have so much passion and creativity bring it to life is fabulous.” Lazarus described the run through the NHL, NFL and Olympics as both exhausting and invigorating. “Every day you had to get amped up to do our best knowing that the spotlight of the media world, of fans, of consumers, was on us -- especially as you get to the Super Bowl and the Olympics. We had to be at our best at all times. It’s hard. We did some things that we learned from and will do differently next time. But in general, I’m very proud of the effort and energy the team put into it. It was a great success for our company.”
