Wings And A Player: Maya Moore Stars In New Jordan Brand Ad

A billboard outside Target Center will now feature Moore in an ode to Jordan's "Wings" posterGETTY IMAGES

Jordan Brand in a new ad announced Lynx F Maya Moore as the "new heir" to Michael Jordan, according to Patrick Coffee of ADWEEK. The ad via Wieden + Kennedy, N.Y., "takes viewers through Moore's career highlights while superimposing her image -- and, by extension, her legacy -- against that of Jordan's classic 'Wings' poster" from '85. The footage is set to Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" and "ends with Jordan himself paraphrasing the William Blake poem that appeared on the original poster." The ad launched on "all of Jordan's digital channels" on Sunday. Additionally, a "giant billboard" located outside Target Center, where Moore plays her home games, "makes the Michael comparison even more obvious with a bit of help from the squad's social media team" (ADWEEK.com, 5/21). CBSSPORTS.com's Kevin Skiver noted the billboard is "telling basketball fans that if you aren't paying attention to Moore already, then it's time to start." Moore has won four WNBA titles in seven years in the league, and the more she wins, the "more comparisons she'll draw" (CBSSPORTS.com, 5/21).
