Buyers & Sellers: Orioles' Adam Jones Buys Cal Ripken Jr.'s Estate

Orioles CF ADAM JONES, a "real-estate enthusiast," purchased CAL RIPKEN JR.'s 25-acre Reisterstown, Md., estate at auction for a "fraction of its original listing price" of $12.5M (THEATHLETIC.com, 5/17). The 8,545-square-foot mansion originally hit the market in '16. The estate, which boasts an "indoor basketball court, baseball field, batting cages and an 11-seat movie theater, had its price cut last year," dropping to $9.7M (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 5/16). 

SECOND CITY SALES: Blackhawks RW MARIAN HOSSA listed his condo in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago for just under $4.5M. The 3,940-square-foot condo has 3.5 baths and "two large terraces." Within the three-bedroom home is a "master suite with a steam shower, heated onyx floors, custom vanities and a built-out walk-in closet and two other bedrooms with remodeled baths and walk-in closets" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 5/15)....Former NFLer ISRAEL IDONIJE last month sold his home in Chicago for $820,000 in an off-market transaction. The 2,134-square-foot, "three-bedroom" home has 2.5 baths. The two-level end unit has a "large rooftop deck and an attached two-car garage" (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 5/16).

HARDWOOD FLOOR PLANS: High Point Univ. basketball coach TUBBY SMITH has put his home in Memphis on the market for $1.69M. Smith bought the home from Spurs F RUDY GAY two years ago for $1.48M. The 8,300-square-foot floor plan holds a "two-story living room, a parlor room, a game room with a wet bar, four bedrooms and six bathrooms" (LATIMES.com, 5/16)....Former NBAer KRIS HUMPHRIES has listed his house located on Lake Minnetonka in Minneapolis for $1.65M. The 4,000-square-foot home "takes full advantage of the waterfront spot." Upstairs are "three of the home's four bedrooms" (LATIMES.com, 5/15).

BUYERS & SELLERS: Tennis player JOHN ISNER sold his home in Tampa for $1.15M, down $200,000 from his original asking price. Isner bought the "Mediterranean-style estate" from Marlins CEO DEREK JETER in '00 for $900,000. Inside is a "living room with built-ins, a formal dining room and a kitchen with granite countertops." The home has "five bedrooms, five bathrooms and an office." Outside, a wet bar "sits under a covered patio." Adjacent, there is a "rock-lined pool and spa" (LATIMES.com, 5/15)....Former NFL Giants coach BEN MCADOO has listed his home in Franklin Lakes, N.J., for $3M. The 7,500-square-foot home is located on "two wooded acres of land" and is described as a "very private modern day estate." Built in '11, the home has "six bathrooms and five bedrooms." There are also "two additional bedroom suites, and Jack and Jill bedrooms that share a bathroom." McAdoo bought the home for $2.23M in May '16 (NJ.com, 5/14)....Bills and Sabres co-Owners TERRY and KIM PEGULA purchased a home in Western New York for $2.5M. The 11,159-square-foot mansion has "five bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a patio, an attached four-car garage and a full basement" (BUFFALONEWS.com, 5/16).
