NBC Sports Sees Bounceback In Viewership For EPL Season

The EPL bounced back on NBC Sports during the ’17-18 season, with viewership in Year 2 of a new media rights deal up over last season. Games across NBC, NBCSN, other NBCU cable nets and NBC Sports Digital drew a total audience delivery of 449,000 viewers, up from 447,000 last season. But this past season, which was NBC Sports’ fifth season with the EPL, was still below the 514,000 TV-only viewers seen in the ’15-16 season, and below the 479,000 viewers from the ’14-15 season. The low for NBC remains the '13-14 season at 438,000 viewers. NBC Sports’ average was well above the 220,000 TV-only viewers averaged by ESPN, ESPN2 and Fox Soccer during the ’12-13 season. Since acquiring EPL rights prior to the ’13-14 season, NBC Sports has now aired the 10 most-viewed live EPL matches on record in the U.S. For games on NBC and NBCSN, Baltimore was the top local market this season, followed by DC and Richmond.
