"Chicago Fire" Names Characters In Season Finale After Jazz Players

There was "no shortage of Jazz love" in last week's season finale of NBC's "Chicago Fire," as several different characters shared names with members of the team, according to Christopher Kamrani of the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE. There was Officer Joe Ingles and Detective Udoh, along with firefighters Alec Burks and Dan Exum and defense attorney Rick Rubio. Additionally, one character was named Rudy, in reference to C Rudy Gobert. Show co-creator Derek Haas, who writes the episodes, said, "I just thought ‘you know what? I’ll just put them all in the finale.' I just went down the list." Kamrani notes Haas is a "devoted Jazz fan," having gone to college with Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey. Haas said that honoring this year’s Jazz team was "worth it to him because of his connection with the franchise and how he was, like so many, sucked in during their fantastic run to the postseason" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 5/18).
