Puma Set To Open Up Flagship Store On Fifth Avenue In Manhattan

Puma has "signed a lease deal to open a flagship store" in a three-level, 24,000-square-foot space on the Fifth Avenue shopping corridor, "creating a marquee location that will be the first of its kind for the company in North America," according to Keiko Morris of the WALL STREET JOURNAL. Puma Senior VP/North American Retail Russ Kahn said that while Puma has stores in the U.S. and Canada, "none has the breadth of the company’s product categories this location will showcase." Puma "joins other sportswear companies" such as Nike, Under Armour and Adidas, which have "leased space along the Fifth Avenue shopping corridor" in N.Y. (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 5/18). WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY's Jean Palmieri noted the retail space "will sport Puma's 'Forever Faster' store design" and will feature a "double-height storefront and 160 feet of wraparound frontage." An opening date was not announced. Puma previously had "three stores in Manhattan, but those were closed" (WWD.com, 5/17).
