Tiger Woods’ presence on the leaderboard boosted NBC to a 4.2 overnight rating for the final round of The Players Championship yesterday, the highest-rated final round since Woods won the event in ’13 (5.7 overnight). Webb Simpson entered yesterday’s final round with a seven-shot cushion and won by four over a trio of players, but Woods was within four shots by the 14th hole, leading to the second-highest final round for NBC in the last 15 years. Yesterday’s rating is also up 62% from a 2.6 last year for Si-Woo Kim’s three-shot win over Ian Poulter and Louis Oosthuizen. Yesterday’s coverage peaked at a 5.6 rating from 6:00-6:15pm ET. On Saturday, NBC drew a 2.6 overnight for third-round play, up from a 2.1 last year. Meanwhile, Golf Channel’s “Live From The Players” yesterday drew a 0.5 rating from 9:00am-noon ET, its second-highest ever behind a 0.6 in ’13.
