Reds Promote Nick Krall To GM With Internal Projects On The Horizon

Krall is in his 16th year with the club, and will collaborate with Williams in his new rolereds

The Reds promoted VP & Assistant GM Nick Krall to GM, while Dick Williams will remain in his position as President of Baseball Operations, "overseeing the baseball side of the franchise," according to John Fay of the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER. Williams, who took over the GM role when Walt Jocketty retired in '16, said that as the Reds "get deeper into the rebuild, more projects are being launched." That includes a new minor league team in the Appalachian League, a "new facility" in the Dominican Republic and "re-entering Venezuela." Williams: "We've got a lot of projects, internal projects we want to focus on. Given the amount of time it's going to take, I think it's important to have two people empowered with the title of GM and president to be able to cover all the bases." Krall is in his 16th year with the club and said, "I wouldn't say I'm taking over. It's a collaborative process with Dick still as the president of baseball ops. I'll have increased responsibility in getting things done and working with all departments" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 5/11).
