Browns GM Dorsey Wants "No Part" Of HBO's Hard Knocks

Six teams could be forced to appear on "Hard Knocks" and the Browns are one of themGETTY IMAGES

Browns GM John Dorsey said that he "wants no part of appearing on HBO's training camp series 'Hard Knocks' in his first year," according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. Dorsey said, "I don't believe we're on Hard Knocks. I don't think there's anything good that comes out of Hard Knocks, but we'll see." An NFL spokesperson said that the league "doesn't have a timetable yet for announcing the decision." If the NFL forces the Browns to be on the show, Dorsey said, "They'll do that, but it's OK. I'm OK with it. I mean, you know what? It is what it is, but I'm OK with it." But his "preference would be to pass." Another team eligible to appear on the show, the 49ers, have "already campaigned against it." 49ers GM John Lynch said, "It's not something we would be really excited about" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 5/3). In Akron, Nate Ulrich notes the six teams "eligible for mandatory inclusion" are the Browns, 49ers, Broncos, Chargers, Ravens and Redskins. The Browns "would appeal to HBO for many reasons, including the presence of Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall draft pick Baker Mayfield and the team's attempt to rebound from consecutive records of 1-15 and 0-16" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 5/3).
