The PGA Tour continues to trend upward this season for all national TV partners. NBC is averaging 3.64 million viewers for its weekend telecasts, the net's best figure since '06 when The Players Championship was still played in March. That figure also is up 69% from last season at this point. Meanwhile, CBS on the weekends is averaging 2.95 million viewers after seven events, the net’s best mark at this point in the season since 3.19 million viewers in ’12 (six events). That figure also is up 17% from 2.52 million viewers last year (six events). On Golf Channel, the early part of the season helped the net to record Q1 viewership. For early rounds and weekend Tour lead-in telecasts, Golf Channel is averaging 470,000 viewers over 118 telecasts, up 30% from last year.
NOTES: ESPN finished with 475,000 viewers for the Alabama spring football game last Saturday, down from 547,000 viewers for last year’s game. Two years ago, ESPN drew 751,000 for the game. Immediately after Saturday’s telecast, the Georgia spring game drew 379,000 viewers....Univision Deportes last Friday in the midnight window drew 199,000 viewers for its Combate Americas broadcast, the second televcast of the '18 season for the MMA outfit.
