Dress To Impress: Prospects Make Fashion Statements At NFL Draft

Jackson drew raves for his bright green tuxedo at the NFL DraftGETTY IMAGES

Fashion was in focus again during the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday night. Social media influencers Sazan Barzani and Stevie Hendrix appeared on "SportsCenter" after the Draft and reviewed the various prospects' apparel. Hendrix said Bills QB Josh Allen had a "really nice" patterned jacket. Hendrix: "I love the texture, it's kind of velvety, and I like the pattern too. But it's a little fall for me." He said Giants RB Saquon Barkley "hit a home run" with his outfit. Hendrix: "I love the black lapel. He's got the different color jacket." Barzani said, "He knows he did it right. He's like, 'I look good.'" Barzani said to say players were making "bold statements is an understatement" when it came to double-breasted jackets, including the one worn by Dolphins DB Minkah Fitzpatrick. Barzani said the color contrast of Fitzpatrick's white jacket and black shirt was "too much." ESPN's Max Bretos said patterned jackets were "the trend" by prospects at the Draft. He added Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was "soaring in regards to fashion" with his green tuxedo jacket. Barzani said, "He's killing it on the carpet. He is our No. 1 best dressed pick head to toe." Hendrix added, "That color green is popping" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 4/27).  In Houston, Matt Wyatt notes Jackson was "all Gucci," and he "stole the show on the first day of the draft with his keen sense of style." Jackson wore a "striking green jacket complete with matching pants and wore a belt and bowtie." The ensemble was "truly out of this world; it was tied together by an extraterrestrial undershirt with UFO's dotted all over it." Broncos DE Bradley Chubb "kept the celestial theme going with a trippy jacket-liner that resembled the endless void of deep space." Chubb's attire "came from JCPenney's Michael Strahan collection" (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 4/27).

SUITING UP: GUIDELIVE.com's Tiney Ricciardi noted Packers CB Jaire Alexander "donned a dapper, three-piece maroon suit with a black-and-white polka dot bow tie and cheetah-print Del Toro shoes." Alexander said, "I'm looking for the bold look. I'm definitely a bow tie guy." Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick "wore an off-white suite from the Michael Strahan collection, which he custom-designed to include buttons with lion heads" (GUIDELIVE.com, 4/26). SI.com's Dan Gartland notes Titans LB Rashaan Evans "looked sharp as hell" in his crimson suit while wearing two championship rings from his time at Alabama (SI.com, 4/27).
