Univ. Of Wyoming Inks Eight-Year Apparel Deal With Adidas

Wyoming's football uniforms uniforms will only see slight design changes under the Adidas dealGETTY IMAGES

The Univ. of Wyoming is "now an Adidas school" after signing an eight-year contract with the brand to "supply footwear, apparel and accessories for all 17 of its men’s and women’s sports," according to Robert Gagliardi of the LARAMIE BOOMERANG. The contract "starts June 1." UW AD Tom Burman said that the contract is worth $5.75M, and "could be extended one year." However, most of the money in the contract "involves product, not actual dollars." UW football and men’s basketball has "worn Nike gear" since '09, while women’s basketball has "worn Under Armour gear the past few years." Burman said that the money UW gets from Adidas to purchase its gear "goes up incrementally over the life of the contract." It also "includes $100,000" in what marketing activation. Burman said that UW’s football uniforms this season "'will look very similar with some slight changes' compared to the past two seasons." He said that other sports "'will have the ability to create their own personality' to their uniforms." One thing "will be consistent with the uniforms for all of UW’s sports." Burman said, “We are going to wear brown and gold. Those are our colors and we’re going to wear them with pride” (LARAMIE BOOMERANG, 4/26).
