Minnesota United Ticket Prices Will Increase At New Allianz Field

Most fans will be closer to the action at Allianz Field than they were at TFC Bank StadiumGETTY IMAGES

Minnesota United's season-ticket breakdown for the '19 season revealed "seemingly like-for-like seat prices will increase by an average" of 46% as the team moves into its new Allianz Field in '19, according to Jeff Rueter of THE ATHLETIC. Minnesota has played its first two seasons in TCF Bank Stadium. Between the playing surface being "slightly elevated from the concourse," and seats being spaced up, not back, every seat at Allianz Field "will be closer to the field than those furthest back at TCF Bank Stadium." Often, tickets are "priced off of proximity to the action; with less distance between fan and field, Allianz can claim to have more high-end seating options." A high-end upper-bowl seat "will go for $786 at Allianz," whereas at TCF, a low-end lower-bowl seat in a comparable section -- "which could technically be further away from the field -- went for $720." The extra $66 at Allianz equates to a 9.2% increase, even if "moving from the lower seating area to the upper isn't aesthetically pleasing." The idea that any fan currently along the sideline "won't be priced out is a stretch." Even if there are 3,000 upper-deck seats within 10% of the current pricing points, the 3,000 seats are "certain to fill quickly." Minnesota United Exec VP & Chief Revenue Officer Bryant Pfeiffer "remains confident that the stadium is a good bang for the buck." Pfeiffer said, "We've got almost 88 percent of Allianz Field that's going to be priced less than $50 per match for season-ticket holders. Last time I checked, there's almost 40 percent of the stadium that will be priced between $20-25" (THEATHLETIC.com, 4/25).
