Nike Stock Standing Firm As Top Execs Continue To Leave Company

Nike continues to see top execs leave the company since receiving complaints about inappropriate workplace behavior, but Wall Street "doesn't seem to care, yet" as the company's stock "has barely moved on all of this," according to CNBC's Sara Eisen. The “high-level exodus" continued this week, with a total of nine execs having now departed, and it is "surprising a lot of people at just deep-rooted it’s gone.” The problems at Nike "started as just a leaked internal HR complaint about a month ago, and it's now spiraled into a much more widespread issue at the company, affecting many of the key areas of Nike's business, like footwear." However, the "key" for Nike, and its prospects on Wall Street, is that Chair, President & CEO Mark Parker is "still firmly in charge." That differentiates Nike's situation from Under Armour, which has "also seen an executive exodus over the last year." The departures at Under Armour "coincided with a major business issue, a slowdown in revenues and questions about whether Under Armour can continue to grow" ("Squawk on the Street," CNBC, 4/20). Among the most recent departures are Senior Brand Dir Vikrant Singh, VP/Global Brand Digital Marketing Innovation Daniel Tawiah and VP/Diversity & Inclusion Antoine Andrews. Nike noted that the departures "are not related to any workplace conduct issues” ("Squawk Box," CNBC, 4/20). At presstime, shares of Nike were trading at $66.04 per share, up 0.49% from the close of business yesterday.
