MLB Marketing Notes: UA Uniform Deal Pushed Back to '20

ESPN.com's Paul Lukas cited sources as saying that MLB's transition to Under Armour uniforms, which was "slated to take place next season, has been pushed back" to '20. Majestic, which currently makes MLB uniforms, "will remain as the on-field uniform outfitter" in '19. This is the latest in a "series of back-and-forth scheduling moves regarding" the transition to UA. When MLB's apparel contract with UA was announced in '16, the plan was for the company to "take over as the on-field uniform supplier" in '20. That timetable was "moved up last spring, when MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced that the transition would take place" in '19. The latest development "restores the original" '20 target date (ESPN.com, 4/16).

BETTING BIG: Should the Red Sox "pitch a no-hitter in any of the 64 games" between July 17-Oct. 1, Massachusetts-based Jordan's Furniture will "refund any furniture purchase made between March 28 and May 20." Jordan's Furniture's CEO & President Eliot Tatelman said that he is willing to do this latest promo because he "takes out an insurance policy on those purchases, having persuaded a roster of insurers to co-sign the deal" (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/14).

IRON MAN: Cal Ripken Jr. is "partnering with the LifeBridge Health Sports Medicine Institute" and will promote the Baltimore outlet "on billboards and in radio, television and print advertisements." He will also "appear at several LifeBridge events this year" (BALTIMORESUN.com, 4/14).
