Throw Dirt On It? Future Of Red Bull Global Rallycross In Doubt

The future of the Red Bull Global Rallycross series is in question after a track tweeted it has been informed the outlet is ceasing operations immediately. Red Bull GRC was founded in ’11 as a new-age form of rallycross that competed on tracks that have concrete and dirt sections as well as a ramp for jumps. Its races air on NBC, and the series was also recently announced as one of the partners on Turner Sports’ new Bleacher Report Live OTT product. Sources began rumbling in recent days that the series’ future was in doubt amid staff layoffs and the events/tickets section of the series’ website going blank. Lancaster National Speedway near Buffalo, which was slated to host a race in June, today tweeted: “We received notification from the Red Bull Global Rally Cross it was ceasing operations for the 2018 season effective immediately. Their hope is to reorganize and start back up in 2019. RBGRC is going to be issuing refunds next week to all who had already purchased tickets for events.” Red Bull GRC CEO Colin Dyne did not immediately respond to a request for comment from THE DAILY.
