NFL Draft To Include Team-Specific Cheering Sections At AT&T Stadium

Teams are using inspiration from political conventions for the layout of the draft crowdGETTY IMAGES

Next week's NFL Draft at AT&T Stadium will "include specific cheering sections" for all 32 teams, modeled somewhat on how political convention floors look, and each "'Inner Circle' will have 50 fans of that club, with team signage and colors," according to Barry Wilner of the AP. The special area "features team rivalry zones, plus opportunities to celebrate the picks with NFL players current and past, including some Hall of Famers." Teams are "using various means for choosing fans who get to sit in their exclusive club section." The Packers are "offering Inner Circle spots through a lottery to season ticket holders in the North Texas area, and then using the 'Packers Everywhere' app to entice other Green Bay fans near the Cowboys' stadium to attend." The Falcons are "sending members of their independent supporters group 'The Cast'" (AP, 4/16). NFL Senior VP/Events Peter O'Reilly noted there will be a "Combine Corner" at the fan fest outside AT&T Stadium where fans can "run the (40-yard dash) against an LED screen of their favorite players running the 40, test their vertical, do all those physical pieces." He also said there will be a "huge football field" where younger kids can "go through flag football clinics." O'Reilly added there will be a "small music stage" and there will be "some regional bands throughout the weekend." He also noted the NFL is "working with local Dallas restaurants, bringing in some great food" (SI.com, 4/13).
