Packers Preparing For Celebrations Around 100th Anniversary In '19

Packers' first tent-pole event will kick off in June with a traveling interactive exhibit called Lambeau Field LivePACKERS

The Packers will celebrate their 100th anniversary in August '19, and the team has unveiled "four tent-pole events around which it will build 16 months of celebration," according to a front-page piece by Richard Ryman of the GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE. The events include a "traveling exhibit, a four-day festival in July, a concert in September and release of a 10-part documentary and history book" in '19. Packers President & CEO Mark Murphy said, "We've been working on this five years." The celebration officially began yesterday, "primarily with the appearance of new 100 Seasons-branded merchandise in the Packers Pro Shop." The first tent-pole event "will kick off in June with a traveling interactive exhibit called Lambeau Field Live." That will be followed July 26-29 by the Packers Experience at Lambeau Field, a "free festival" that will "include live music, a replica team locker room, USA Football kids' clinic, Packers alumni Q&A, photo stations and more." Celebration Weekend, held around the team's first home game, will "include a free concert" and feature "appearances by about 65 Packers alumni." The team also is "producing a Ken Burns-length documentary, 'Legacy: 100 Seasons of the Green Bay Packers.'" It will "have 10 episodes covering 10 decades of Packers football, with each episode running from one to two hours." The completed series "will be available" in fall '19. The Packers are "finalizing how it will be distributed" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 4/10).
