A Day In The Life With MLB Network's Chris Rose

"A Day in the Life" is a new feature in SBD examining the daily habits of interesting personalities in sports business. This week, MLB Network's CHRIS ROSE details his "Law & Order" addiction and where he likes to dine out in Southern California.

6:00-6:45am PT: I wake up at 6:00 and am reading up on the news. The MLB Network research department compiles every column that has been written about any of the 30 teams. The columns on the Boston and N.Y. teams are obviously a bit lengthier than the ones in Minnesota. Sometimes the content doubles up -- if it's a game story from the night before, it's just would you rather read the Daily News or the N.Y. Post. For breakfast I eat the same thing every day: two eggs, a little bit of turkey sausage and onion thrown in there, one piece of Ezekiel bread and half a tablespoon of almond butter.

6:45-8:00am: I usually get my kids up, and then I'll hop on our conference call with our guys in New Jersey. MLB Network has built studios in each of our homes, so the office, fortunately, is my home. That usually takes about 25 minutes or so. I then drive my youngest kid BRADY to school after that, so then around 8:00, I'm free to go back and do a little more reading.

8:00-10:00am: It kind of all depends on what I have scheduled. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I'll go to the gym -- just a space that a couple trainers rent -- even though it might not look like it. I'll also schedule appointments during that time as necessary. Between 8:30-9:00, I'll have a one-on-one call with the producer to go over the show. After that I'll call my researcher and go over the research requests.

10:00-1:00pm: During the season if there's a day game on, which usually starts at 10, I’ll be watching that. About 11:00-11:15, it’s time to hop in the shower so you don't look like you slept under a freeway. My research usually gets to me around 11:30-11:45 for the 1:00 "INTENTIONAL TALK" show, so I'm just going over that. I'll usually have a protein shake before I crawl into my chair around 12:15. KEVIN MILLAR gets in there around that time too, so we’ll talk for a little bit before our producer gets in our ear.

1:00-3:00pm: On the air.

3:00-5:00pm: If we've got a Little League game that day -- I coach Brady's team -- I’ll take him to those and our games are usually around 5:00. If not, we'll just be hanging out around the house or shoot hoops, anything to just decompress.

5:00-10:00pm: If we don't have a Little League game, at 4:00, the night games on the East Coast have started and those are always on. We’re big Indians fans -- I'm from Cleveland -- and I poisoned the kids at birth, so they are big Indians, Cavaliers and Browns fans. My wife MICHELE and I have date night every Friday. We live in a cool area out in L.A. and there's a ton of restaurants out by where we live -- Katsuya, Bottlefish and Granville are some favorites. We're close enough to where if we want to go into Hollywood, we can do that. We're also 15 minutes away from Beverly Hills.

10:15pm: I try to physically be in my bed by 10:15-10:30 during the week. Once I feel like I've watched and read everything I can on baseball, I'll put on one of the hundreds of episodes of "Law & Order" or "Law & Order: SVU" that are on my DVR because I've seen every single one of them. I'll usually fall asleep right after that around 11:00.
