Univ. of Idaho AD Rob Spear has been "placed on a 60-day, paid administrative leave as the school investigates 'process failures' related to sexual assault complaints made against a football player" in '12 and '13, according to a front-page piece by Chadd Cripe of the IDAHO STATESMAN. The ensuing investigation will start with the '12-13 incidents but will not be "limited to them." Spears was set to meet with the student legislative body, the ASUI Senate, today to "discuss the mistakes made by his department and the improvements implemented since." The Senate tonight "still plans to vote ... on a resolution that requests Spear be fired." He will not be on campus "or involved in university business unless called upon" by Idaho President Chuck Staben. Associate AD Pete Isakson "will serve as acting athletic director." Spear received a four-year contract in '16 through February '20. He "earns $196,958 per year and has been in his role for 14 years" (IDAHO STATESMAN, 4/4). Staben said that he "expects a report to come out of the external investigation and that the findings will be made as public as they can be." Staben also said that Idaho "has not yet made a decision on who will perform the investigation" (MOSCOW-PULLMAN DAILY NEWS, 4/4).
