ASU's Global Sports Institute Looks To Answer Pressing Questions

Arizona State last year launched its Global Sports Institute as "part of the school's partnership with Adidas," and the initiative explores "a few topics," including athletes' mental health and whether or not they should be paid, according to Katherine Fitzgerald of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. The Institute on April 13 will host the inaugural Global Sport Summit, a day of lectures and discussions "about the future of sport around the world." Global Sports Institute CEO Kenneth Shropshire "pulls from established departments at ASU, including the business, journalism and law schools, to answer disciplinary questions about sport and society." Shropshire said, "The key from the beginning was to utilize the whole university, to go beyond." Shropshire "cites research, knowledge dissemination and education as the three pillars of the institute" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 4/3).
