ESPN Public Editor Discusses End Of Two-Year Term With Network

ESPN Public Editor Jim Brady took to Twitter to discuss the conclusion of his two-year term and said he hopes ESPN "continues to have a public editor." Brady posted his final column last week and wrote on Thursday he "generally enjoyed the back-and-forth" he had with readers and viewers that were "so passionate" about the ESPN product. Brady said not every issue could "rise to the level of requiring a column," but even smaller issues were "passed on." Brady, who was only part-time and has a separate day job, admitted at times he was kept from being "as responsive" as he "wished." However, having a day job "was also part of the reason ESPN chose" him for the job. Brady: "They wanted someone who was living through disruption the same way they were." Brady went on to thank "those who were always willing to talk and help" him out, "including people inside and outside ESPN." Brady: "I was told at the beginning of my term that ESPN employees would be encouraged to work with me. And most did. ... I now eagerly await being able to go home and watch SportsCenter just like every other sports fan, and read ESPN.com without needing to tap into the public editor nature of my life the past two years" (TWITTER.com, 3/22).
