Franchise Notes

In Boston, Ben Volin notes among rule changes that will be proposed at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando next week, the 49ers, Cardinals and Chargers "want a limit of three games per year that have 'a scheduled kickoff time prior'" to 1:00pm in the "time zone of their home stadium.” In other words, they "want a cap" on East Coast 1:00pm road games for West Coast teams. The London games also "factor into this" (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/22).

WELCOME TO MIAMI: BILLBOARD's Ashley Lyle reported the Marlins' "new team anthem, 'Just Gettin' Started,' will be performed and released at during their season opener." Produced by Jason Boyd, Jared Gutstadt, and Sasha Sirotkin, the song "features appearances" from DJ Khaled, Nicky Jam and Kent Jones. Marlins CEO Derek Jeter said he and The Players' Tribune President Jaymee Messler were "thinking about doing something different here in Miami, and really doing something that was reflective of the Miami culture" (BILLBOARD.com, 3/21).

DO IT FOR THE KIDS: In Cleveland, Kevin Kleps noted the Indians have "been ahead of the game" in terms of making games kid-friendly, as the team in '12 unveiled a Kids Clubhouse that was "expanded to two levels" in '15. The Indians also have KeyBank Kids Tickets, which "start at $10 for ages 12 and under, and the Kids Fun Days on Sunday." The Orioles this season will offer free tickets to kids nine and under, and while that "isn't feasible for all clubs," it should be "possible for teams to offer free kids seats during games with significantly lower demand" (CRAINSCLEVELAND.com, 3/21).
