Fox Sports "expressed regret for a comedic segment" on "NASCAR Race Hub" that included a bit on Mexican driver Daniel Suarez, according to Bob Pockrass of ESPN.com. Comedian/actress Sarah Tiana was a guest on the show Thursday and "presented superlatives for several drivers." The item on Suarez was read and posted on the screen: "Least likely to hit the wall ... or get close to any wall now that Trump is president," with a photo of Suarez on the screen. Some of the panelists -- including Jeff Gordon and Bubba Wallace Jr. -- "appeared not to know whether to laugh." Tiana, in response said, "That's a good joke. I'm just happy he's driving with insurance." Fox Sports in a statement said, "The views expressed on Thursday's NASCAR Race Hub by comedian/actress Sarah Tiana do not represent the views of Fox Sports. We regret any insensitivity displayed toward drivers, teams and fan bases, and are reviewing the process involved in creating the segment" (ESPN.com, 3/16). YAHOO SPORTS' Nick Bromberg wrote Tiana's joke was "supposed to be funny." Bromberg: "It was not. Instead, it was tasteless. And that's being nice" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 3/16).
