U.S. Curler Matt Hamilton Getting Endorsement Calls After Gold Medal

Gold Medal-winning U.S. curler Matt Hamilton has "been presented with so many endorsement opportunities" after the Pyeongchang Games that he has had to "hire an agent," according to A.J. Perez of USA TODAY. Hamilton said, "There were a lot of offers from different things coming out and I don’t know how to handle it. The fact there are companies that want to give me stuff and want me to endorse their products, you feel like a professional athlete when, in curling, I’ve had to work a full-time job and train on the side." Perez notes Hamilton is the "most recognizable member of the team." His recognition factor is "partly from the hype early in the Olympics as he teamed with his sister, Becca, as part of mixed doubles curling team." Hamilton's mustache has also made him recognizable, and he has been "pitched to endorse mustache grooming products." Hamilton: "It’s getting to the point where maybe in America that maybe we can be professional in curling. We might not make millions of dollars, but if we can feed our families and support ourselves, that’d be a dream come true." Meanwhile, some members of the Team USA curling team are "headed to Hollywood" this week to "meet with producers" about a film on the team's win (USATODAY.com, 3/3).
