MLS Putting Streaming Service On DAZN In Canada

MLS has signed a three-year deal with DAZN Canada to move its fan streaming service, MLS Live, to the DAZN platform. The partnership, which will be in effect for the start of the ’18 season this weekend, will showcase a minimum of 262 regular-season games, with an additional 129 games involving all three Canadian MLS teams being available after a 48-hour delay. MLS in January ’17 signed a multiyear deal with TSN to serve as its exclusive English language broadcaster in Canada, as well as provide coverage of Toronto FC and Whitecaps games, as well as some Impact matches. It also signed a deal with TVA Sports to provide French-language and Impact coverage. DAZN, which launched in Canada last July and also features La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1, costs $20 per month, or $150 for an annual subscription. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. MLS also confirmed that its out-of-market streaming service will move to ESPN+ when it launches later this spring. In the interim, the league will provide free access to the service through its mobile app and on its website, as well as via Apple TV and Roku. Its MLS Direct Kick service will also be available on DirectTV.
