NFL Franchise Notes: Bears Moving Some Employees Downtown

The Bears said that they are "moving about 30 employees from Soldier Field to a new office" in a high-rise in downtown Chicago, where the team has leased 11,000 square feet. In Chicago, Alby Gallun noted the "bulk of the employees work in the Bears' corporate partnership and event production departments." Most of the Bears' 185 full-time employees will "continue to work at the team's Halas Hall headquarters in Lake Forest." The move will allow the Bears to "repurpose the Soldier Field office space into conference or meeting rooms for game-use and client entertainment" (CHICAGOBUSINESS.com, 2/26).

MORE CHEDDAR: In Green Bay, Richard Ryman notes secondary market ticket broker SeatGeek has five years of data that shows the Packers were "third in the NFL over that time when it came to driving up the prices of road games." Overall, ticket prices on the secondary market were 46% more than face value "when the Packers were the visiting team," compared to 56% for the Patriots and 52% for the Cowboys. The Packers were "10th across all professional sports" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 2/28).

SHINE BRIGHT: In Ft. Lauderdale, David Furones noted the Dolphins and power management company Eaton surprised South Plantation High School in Plantation, Fla., last Wednesday, letting them know they "won their 'Light Like The Pros' initiative." South Plantation's football field will "receive an Ephesus LED sports lighting and control system valued at more than $100,000" (South Florida SUN SENTINEL, 2/27).
