Medal Stand: U.S. Speedskating So Far Mirroring Sochi Shutout

Each day during the Olympics, THE DAILY offers our take on the business performances of some of the people, sponsors, broadcasters and other entities around Pyeongchang.

GOLD: MIKAELA SHIFFRIN -- U.S. skiing’s new golden girl finally got to compete, and she got her and agent Kilian Albrecht’s Games off to a great start with gold in the giant slalom.

SILVER: OMEGA -- The longtime Olympic timekeeper maintains its consistent and trusted place at the Games.

BRONZE: BODE MILLER -- Lighten up, people, he was just making a joke last night. Aside from that, the one-time U.S. skiing bad boy has been offering insight after insight to NBC’s alpine skiing coverage. Miller makes the occasional rookie mistake, but overall, he’s a nice addition.

TINU.S. SPEEDSKATING -- Through eight races across short-track and long-track in Pyeongchang, U.S. speedskaters have yet to medal. Maybe the debacle in Sochi wasn’t Under Armour’s fault after all.
