Franchise Notes

THE ATHLETIC's Chad Graff noted as soon as next week, the Vikings will "begin moving out of their long-time home at Winter Park in Eden Prairie and into their new digs in Eagan." Vikings co-Owner Mark Wilf said that he hopes the team is "completely moved into the Eagan facilities before free agency begins on March 14." Wilf: "We’re really excited about that -- finally to have all our employees effectively under one roof. I mean, this has been 13 years in our ownership, and I look back to where we were in 2005, trucking in air conditioning to our locker room in Winter Park" (THEATHLETIC.com, 1/31).

ARE 'CANES ABLE? In Raleigh, Chip Alexander notes new Hurricanes Owner Tom Dundon  is "determined to make PNC Arena a destination again." Alexander: "Give more fans more reasons to go to Canes games. Give them more value. Entertain them better. Bring the place alive." Hurricanes Senior Dir of Marketing & Brand Strategy Mike Forman said, "He’s challenging us. He’s uber competitive. He’s aggressive. He wants everything bigger, better, faster." In addition to Tuesday night's effort to move fans to the lower bowl, Dundon wants to try $10 "'early bird' parking for the first 100 arrivals, a $10 discount." That has been done, and some "concession prices were lowered" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 2/1).

YEAR OF THE HORSE? In Dallas, Eddie Sefko cites a source as saying that the Mavericks are "headed to China next October for a pair of preseason games." The exhibitions against the 76ers "will be played in Shanghai and Shenzhen" as part of the NBA Global Games. The Mavs last played preseason games abroad in '13 (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 2/1).
