Brewers' Attanasio Expects '18 Attendance To Approach 3 Million

A surprise 86-win season last year helped the Brewers draw 2.6 million fans to Miller ParkGETTY IMAGES

Brewers Owner Mark Attanasio said the club this season could once again approach 3 million in home attendance at Miller Park, a figure it has not hit since its last playoff season in ’11. The club recently made a sizable splash with the acquisitions of OFs Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich, boosting Attanasio’s optimism following a surprise 86-win season last year that drew 2.6 million and broke a two-year attendance slide. “It depends on how we start. We need to get off to a fast start,” Attanasio said. “But there’s a huge amount of energy in our city around the club, and I’m hearing from our players, too, that it feels like did in ’11,” in which the club won a franchise-record 96 games. “Whatever happens, it’s going to be a lot of fun,” he said. The Brewers’ strong attendance, ranking 10th in MLB last year and poised to rise several slots this year, comes despite the club operating in the league’s smallest media market.
