StubHub's Q4 Revenue Up 10% Over Comparable Period In '16

StubHub during its Q4 ended Dec. 31 generated $306M in revenue, up 10% from the comparable period in ’16, and $1.4B in gross sales. The eBay-owned company in part credited a strong sports slate last fall for the increase, and StubHub during the quarter posted record levels of MLB ticket sales fueled in part by deep playoff runs by the Astros, Dodgers, Yankees and Cubs. “We had a really good World Series, we had a really good baseball playoffs, we had really good college football,” said eBay President & CEO Devin Wenig. For all of ’17, StubHub generated slightly more than $1B in revenue, up 9% from the prior year, and $4.5B in gross sales, up 5%. But Wenig said the Q4 growth rates will not necessarily be repeated in ’18, continuing company warnings from prior quarters outlining the ticket marketplace’s vulnerability to variances in event schedules. “I wouldn’t plug quarter four in as a linear across 2018. We still have work to do,” he said.
