In Ft. Lauderdale, Ira Winderman notes no sooner did the Heat "unveil the colorway to the Vice uniforms" then G Wayne Ellington "recognized the possibilities of Carolina Blue sneakers." NBA players are "allowed to wear shoes in any of the team's colors." The Vice release "added powder blue to the mix." Ellington said, "Once I saw the color scheme, I made sure I put the order in and called to Chapel Hill to see what they could do for me." UNC provided sneakers "fully adorned with the school logo, an enduring reminder" of Ellington being part of the '09 NCAA championship team (South Florida SUN SENTINEL, 1/31).

IN THE BAG: GOLFWEEK's David Dusek noted Tony Finau has "signed an endorsement deal with Ping." Under the terms of the agreement, Finau will "use at least 11 Ping clubs and the company’s bag." He will "continue to wear Nike apparel and footwear." Finau played a Ping driver last season "without having an endorsement deal in place with the company" (GOLFWEEK.com, 1/30).

GOT YOU COVERED: Premium lifestyle apparel company Black Clover signed a three-year partnership with NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, becoming his official headwear supplier. Black Clover will create a unique line of headwear by incorporating Busch's "Rowdy" brand. The Kyle Busch Signature Series headwear line will be available online and at certain retail outlets beginning the first week of February (Black Clover).
