Facility Notes

In Oakland, Curtis Pashelka notes the A's "will expand the protective netting" at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum "for at least this season, with the netting extending to the far ends of both dugouts." The netting “will be a similar color green to the field grass to minimize its visible impact to fans and television viewers.” The A’s also plan to "extend the netting beyond the dugouts at Hohokam Stadium," the team’s Spring Training ballpark in Mesa, Ariz. (EAST BAY TIMES, 1/31).

GREEN ACRES: In Milwaukee, James Nelson notes there is an "odd, teal shade of green on the east side" of the new Bucks' arena that will be the main public entrance, but it "won't be the final look of the building." Mortenson Construction Senior Marketing Manager Bridget Kraus said that the green material on the east side and other parts of the arena is "an air and vapor barrier." She added that the structure's final color "will be a combination of zinc panels (copper), composite panels (silver), corrugated panels (pewter) and curtainwall (glass)" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/31).

SPUR OF THE MOMENT: EPL club Tottenham has submitted an application to "increase the capacity" of its new stadium by 441 seats. Work is continuing on the US $1.2B stadium, which "will host NFL games" and feature its own brewery. The additional seating would "bring the capacity of the new stadium to 62,000" -- second only to Manchester United's Old Trafford in terms of EPL capacities (FOOTBALL.LONDON, 1/30).
