Angels' Moreno Maintaining Active Presence With Team Despite Decreased Profile

Angels Owner Arte Moreno said he remains an active presence in the franchise despite seeing his public profile decrease somewhat in recent years. He said this is a “great opportunity” for Angels Chair Dennis Kuhl and President John Carpino “to run the club more.” Moreno: “They’re working more on a day-to-day basis. But I’m still talking to those guys 10 times a day.” Moreno has not been a regular attendee of quarterly MLB owners’ meetings in recent years, particularly since the installation of Rob Manfred as commissioner in ’15. Meanwhile, Vladimir Guerrero said he will wear an Angels cap on his HOF plaque, making him that franchise’s first ever player to do so after 57 years of existence. Moreno attended Thursday's press event in a show of support for Guerrero, who played six of his 16 seasons for the team, and said he had no conversation with Guerrero about his plaque decision. “To see someone wear our colors (entering the Hall) is a proud moment for our fans,” Moreno said.
