N.Y. MTA Chair Joe Lhota on Thursday said that he is "'concerned' about the complications involved with expanding Long Island Rail Road service to the Islanders’ new arena at Belmont Park and added that a study is underway." Lhota said that two obstacles "include the design of the current Belmont spur off the main line and the LIRR’s inability to add more trains during the evening rush hour, when most Islanders fans would be traveling to weeknight games" (NEWSDAY, 1/26).

NEW TECH, SAME LOOK
: The north end of Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium will get a "new scoreboard without losing its current look." The Univ. of Oklahoma Board of Regents "officially approved plans for the scoreboard Wednesday." The scoreboard, which has "long been part of Phase II of OU’s stadium renovation, will be three times larger but won’t disturb the clock tower frame on the stadium’s exterior." The current video board "has been in place" since '07 (TULSA WORLD, 1/25).

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? Crews "started work in early January to reinforce the structure which supports the video board" at the Univ. of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium. Work will continue over the next few months on both the "structure and later installation of a new sound system, with project completion scheduled for late March." An upgraded audio system "will be integrated with the existing video and scoring system to provide full-range sound reproduction, and to deliver a clear and intelligible speech" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 1/25).
