The Missing Link: Brewers End Klement's 25-Year Sponsorship Of Racing Sausages

The Brewers' Famous Racing Sausages will "no longer wear the Klement's label" after the team ended its 25-year sponsorship with the Milwaukee-based company, according to a front-page piece by Bill Glauber of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Klement Sausage Co. CEO Tom Danneker said the company "intended to extend and continue" the partnership with the Brewers, but the team "abruptly and without explanation cut off our negotiations." Dannaker noted the Brewers have signed a deal with another company and did not give Klement the "opportunity to match the deal or negotiate." The Racing Sausages began as "electronic dots on a scoreboard at the old County Stadium" before becoming a staple of every Brewers game at Miller Park. The popularity of the Racing Sausages have resulted in "imitators" across MLB, including the Nationals' racing presidents and the Pirates' racing pierogies (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 1/24). The Brewers will "have an opportunity to publicly reveal the new sponsor to a live audience as soon as Sunday during the team's 'On Deck' fanfest" (MLB.com, 1/23).
