Sources: United Airlines, L.A. Coliseum Ready To Formally Announce Naming-Rights Deal

L.A. Memorial Coliseum and United Airlines are finally ready to announce their naming-rights agreement, sources said. The two sides are preparing for a news conference on Monday at the Coliseum, where they will unveil the details around United’s 15-year, $70.5M deal to put the airline’s name on the historic venue. USC, which operates the facility, already has planned a groundbreaking event on Monday to announce more details around the massive $270M renovation. The school sold naming rights to United in tandem with its multimedia rights partner, Fox Sports. The contract has been in the works for several months (THE DAILY first broke the news of a deal between United and the Coliseum last May). As part of the renovation, capacity will decrease to 77,500, while premium seating will be available for the first time in the Scholarship Club Tower. Revenue from the naming-rights deal, other sponsorships, donations and premium seating is expected to help offset costs of the renovation.
