Avalanche's Current Home Winning Streak Fueling Recent Uptick In Attendance

The Avalanche's average attendance this season "isn't where the NHL or the team wants it," but the energy at Pepsi Center during the club's current six-game home winning streak has been "reminiscent of that in the glory years," according to Mike Chambers of the DENVER POST. The Avalanche have had "two 18,000-plus sellouts" in their last six home games and drew 16,090 in Monday's win over the Ducks. Their average attendance on the season "sits at 15,027, ranking 27th in the 31-team league." Last season the Avs were 25th at 14,835 per game, so there "has been improvement." Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said of the recent attendance uptick, "Guys are starting to feel it and having fun. It kind of fuels the fire. We want to get our fans and the city behind us." Chambers notes the Avalanche's winning streak is the club's "longest in 12 years" (DENVER POST, 1/18).
