Mom & Me: Bulls Treat Players' Mothers To Spa Day, Special Road Trip For Knicks Game

The Bulls organized a "special trip for the players to take their moms on the team's charter" to N.Y., which is "believed to be" a first in the NBA, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN.com. Bulls Senior Manager of Player Development & Team Services Shaun Hickombottom "put the trip together, making sure the Bulls' players and mothers could enjoy several activities together" ahead of the game against the Knicks. The moms were "treated to a team dinner on Tuesday night" and had a spa treatment yesterday morning that "included a manicure, pedicure and facial." The group then "had some time to sightsee." At the arena, the mothers "served as a high-five line for their sons as they made their way to the floor." The moms in attendance "sat together in the stands wearing their sons' red jerseys." Bulls G Quincy Pondexter's mom, Doris, said, "No other team has done this. Being able to meet the other mothers and being able to sit back and us all enjoy (each other)." Quincy Pondexter is "convinced that other teams will copy the Bulls' format after seeing the joy that permeated from both sons and mothers throughout this trip" (ESPN.com, 1/10).
