Town & Country: A's Officially Move Into New Offices In Downtown Oakland

The A's on Monday moved into their "new 40,000-square-foot offices" in downtown Oakland, which "include a batting cage, a mural by street-art crew the Illuminaries, a gym and a break room, along with plenty of A’s memorabilia," according to Susan Slusser of the S.F. CHRONICLE. Event space will "allow for corporate and community get-togethers that include great views" of Alameda County and S.F. A's President Dave Kaval said that the accommodations -- completed at a cost of $4-5M -- will "help the team compete with Silicon Valley firms for the best employees." Slusser notes the club’s 180 employees had been "split between the Coliseum and Oracle Arena." With more employees and a "better work space, the A’s will be able to do more things in-house, including producing the team’s TV commercials." Meanwhile, Kaval yesterday said that all three sites initially considered for a new ballpark -- Howard Terminal, the Coliseum and the recently squelched Laney College site -- are "back on the table." Kaval said, "We spent a lot of time getting it to three final sites, and those are the sites that are viable. I would say it would be unlikely there would be another site" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 1/10).
