Dustin Johnson Win At Kapalua With Help of TaylorMade Twist Face Technology

The first weekend of 2018 was quite kind to Dustin Johnson. The world’s No. 1-ranked golfer lived up to the billing by winning the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii. Johnson used TaylorMade’s new Twist Face driver technology. Boy, did it work out:

Designed to alleviate hook and slice problems, Twist Face technology curves the driver’s club face. This allows for greater leeway when hitting a ball off the low-heel or high-toe of the club — a common problem among golfers of all levels.

Notorious for being one of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour, Johnson tried out the new technology in Kapalua. “I put the new M4 [includes Twist Face] driver in play this week and I drove it really straight,” Johnson told reporters. “I don’t think I ever hit one bad drive all week. So for me that was the big key this week, is driving. I drove it really well.

“Well, last year I drove it pretty well,” Johnson continued. “I thought I was driving it pretty good. But with this new driver and new technology, we got the Twist Face in there.”

TaylorMade released a video about a week ago featuring five of their tour professionals: Johnson, Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Jon Rahm. Each was introduced to the new innovation during a roundtable discussion. “So you’re telling me I’m going to hit a lot more fairways,” Johnson exclaimed in the video.

Based on this weekend’s results, yes, you will hit a lot more fairways, Dustin.
