The NFL Panthers have hired Allen & Co. to manage the team's sale process. The Panthers in a statement said the sale will be led by Allen & Co.’s Steve Greenberg on financial matters, while Proskauer’s Joe Leccese and Moore & Van Allen’s Billy Moore will lead legal matters. Leccese in based in N.Y., while Moore is based in Charlotte. The team reiterated that the sale process “will not begin, and offers will not be entertained, until the last game is played.” The Panthers play the Saints on Sunday in a Wild Card game. Sources suggested that former and current Bank of America execs could bid for the team, and that might pose a conflict to representing the sale (Daniel Kaplan, Staff Writer). In Charlotte, Peralta & Rothacker note late former Allen & Co. Chair Donald Keough was a "minority owner of the Panthers" until his death in '15. Meanwhile, Moore gained attention in '13 for "telling Charlotte City Council that it should act quickly to vote in favor" of giving the Panthers $87.5M for stadium renovations.
