76ers Unveil "City Edition" Uniforms, With New Design Aimed At Honoring Philadelphia

The 76ers today "unveiled their 'City Edition' uniforms," and the "parchment paper-colored outfits, featuring a blue 'Phila' in signature-style lettering, are the fourth uniform the Sixers will wear this season," according to Keith Pompey of the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. There is also "red and blue trim around the collar down to the arm holes, in addition to red trim halfway around the blue numbers." The uniforms also "will have a '76' emblem on the shorts." The outfits were "inspired by the Declaration of Independence, which was signed in Philadelphia in 1776" (PHILLY.com, 12/27). In Philadelphia, Jessica Camerato notes the 76ers will "wear these uniforms for the first time on Feb. 2 at home against the Heat, followed by every Friday night home game and each home game in April for the rest of the season" (NBCPHILADELPHIA.com, 12/27).

A STORM IS COMING: The OKLAHOMAN notes the Thunder's "final set" of Nike uniforms are a "brand-new look" for the team in a "dark gray tone with pops of color in orange and blue that evoke the team's shield logo." The "City Edition" kits include "OKC" and jersey numbers on the front "trimmed in a bright yellow." The shorts include the state of Oklahoma "featured on the waistband" (NEWSOK.com, 12/26). In Oklahoma, Fred Katz wrote the two conventional Thunder jerseys, the "Association" and "Icon" editions, "didn't change much from the team's previous and traditional homes and aways." The "Statement" uniform, however, "added a bit of a personality overhaul with navy taking over as a primary color and frayed sound waves lining the top and shorts." The "City Edition" brings in "new colors to a team that already boasted a bunch of them." The gray is "supposed to signify the cloudiness in a thunderstorm," and the yellow is for lightning (NORMANTRANSCRIPT.com, 12/26).
