Sharks Name Becher, Tortora Co-Presidents Of Sharks Sports & Entertainment

The Sharks and Majority Owner HASSO PLATTNER announced that JONATHAN BECHER and JOHN TORTORA have been named co-Presidents of Sharks Sports & Entertainment, which "oversees the NHL franchise, the AHL's Barracuda and operates SAP Center and Solar4America Ice in San Jose," according to Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose MERCURY NEWS. Tortora has served as SSE’s COO since '11 and will "oversee the company’s finance and venue operations." He also "remains an alternate governor for the Sharks." Becher most recently served as SAP’s Chief Digital Officer and the head of the SAP Digital business unit. Becher will be "responsible for the areas of sales, marketing and revenue." The announcement also included that Sharks GM DOUG WILSON will remain and "oversee hockey operations." Wilson has been the team’s GM since March '03. The Sharks on Monday parted ways with Exec VP and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer FLAVIL HAMPSTEN, who had served in his role since '15 (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 12/22).
