National Soccer HOF Set To Open Next October With Induction Ceremony, FC Dallas Match

The National Soccer HOF at Toyota Stadium is "just starting to take shape," and the facility will have an Oct. 20 opening that will feature an induction ceremony, concert and the inaugural HOF game featuring FC Dallas, according to Valerie Wigglesworth of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. A press conference yesterday included the "unveiling of the new logo" for the HOF, and a new website is "already counting down to opening day." FC Dallas Chair & CEO Clark Hunt said that the HOF facility "combines some of the sport's iconic artifacts with the latest interactive technology." The 63,000 square feet of new space in the stadium's south end includes the exclusive HOF Club and the "more casual Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Club." A new glass-enclosed press conference area will "double as an educational center on non-event days." The center's focus "will be on science, technology, engineering, art and math." But the HOF is the "main focus" of $55M in renovations to the stadium in downtown Frisco. The improvements are "part of a public-private partnership" among FC Dallas, the city of Frisco, Frisco Independent School District and the U.S. Soccer Federation (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 12/13).
