TCU Goes In-House, Promotes Associate AD Jeremiah Donati To Replace Chris Del Conte

TCU yesterday introduced Jeremiah Donati as its new AD, two days after Chris Del Conte "announced he was vacating the post to take the same role at Texas," according to Ben Baby of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Donati said that over the last few weeks, several schools "showed interest in him." But he "decided to stay at TCU, where he was being groomed to be Del Conte's eventual replacement." He said, "It'd be really silly to want to look elsewhere." Donati first arrived at TCU in '11 and was promoted to Deputy AD/External Affairs in '16. Donati said that the "key to keeping TCU's momentum will be to raise" the $100M for more renovations at Amon G. Carter Stadium. He said, "The best thing we can do right now is finish that project and turn the page" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 12/12). Donati said of his introductory presser, "I expected to be more nervous. Because once I saw everybody, it felt like I walked into a big family reunion almost. It really calmed me down" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 12/12). In Ft. Worth, Peter Dawson writes Donati "didn’t exude the same bombastic passion as his highly accomplished predecessor." But he was "incredibly confident that his work experience, personality and leadership ability made him the perfect choice to further elevate" TCU's athletic program. Donati: "It would be silly to come in here and think this is a rebuild or a place you need to tear down and start over. There are a lot of great things going on right now, and it’s up to me to continue the momentum and figure out a way to take it higher" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 12/12).
