Titans Deny Report That Team Could Move To Oakland To Replace Raiders

The Titans on Thursday denied a report that the team could move to Oakland and reiterated the current ownership is "not selling the team," according to Nashville-based WKRN-ABC. The team in a statement said, "The Titans organization is not looking to move to Oakland or any other city and the team isn't for sale. The city of Oakland will have to look elsewhere for a new NFL tenant." The issue came up after the S.F. Chronicle's Kimberly Veklerov posted a tweet that reported the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority was eyeing either the Titans or Jaguars "to replace the Raiders" when they move to Las Vegas. Coliseum Authority Exec Dir Scott McKibben "confirmed the Titans and Jaguars were discussed as potential replacement teams" during a board meeting on Thursday. However, he said that the Titans "would only be targeted if the team were to be sold." There has been "speculation for years" that the Adams family, which owns the team, "could entertain a sale" (WKRN.com, 11/30). Veklerov in her tweet noted McKibben said the NFL "likes" the Oakland market (TWITTER.com, 11/30).
