Georgia-Auburn Ranks As CBS' Top-Rated Game Of '17; Notre Dame-Miami Up On ABC

CBS earned a 4.7 overnight rating on Saturday for Auburn’s upset win over Georgia in the 3:30pm ET window, marking the highest-rated game of the day and CBS’ top-rated game of the season. The 40-17 route was up 62% from a 2.9 overnight from last year’s matchup featuring the same two teams. Saturday’s game peaked at a 5.3 rating between 6:00-6:30pm. Georgia-Auburn was just ahead of ABC's 4.5 overnight in primetime for Miami’s blowout win over Notre Dame. That number is up 13% from a 4.0 in the comparable window last year, which featured Iowa beating a previously undefeated Michigan team. On cable, ESPN drew a 3.8 rating in primetime Saturday for Alabama’s come-from-behind, last-minute win over Mississippi State. That marks the highest-rated game of the season on cable and is up 192% from LSU-Arkansas last year. Finally, ESPN on Saturday scored its best “College GameDay” rating of the season, drawing a 1.5 from Miami for Notre Dame-UM (Josh Carpenter, Assistant Editor).

RED FLAG: YAHOO SPORTS' Nick Bromberg noted three red flags for accidents late in Friday night's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series "moved the start" of Washington-Stanford from FS1 to FS2, and "fans were displeased." FS2 is "available in far less homes" than FS1. But Fox "made the right call sticking with the truck race, even if many Pac-12 fans were unhappy" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 11/10). But in San Jose, Jon Wilner wrote the "big problem" with moving the start of the game to FS2 is that the major carrier in Seattle, Comcast, does "not have FS2." It was the "second consecutive Friday that the start of a Pac-12 game was bumped to FS2 because of a car/truck race overrun on FS1." The situation "enraged fans" and "frustrated UW officials" (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 11/12).
