Raptors' Ujiri Says Team Benefiting From Additions Of Women To Front Office

The Raptors have "benefited" by hiring "more women for several key roles" over the offseason, according to Lori Ewing of the CP. Raptors President Masai Ujiri said, "It works here for us, because it’s worked for me. Hire women. I said that because it’s working for us. It’s inclusion, it’s opportunity, it’s diversity. It just works here. Toronto speaks that. Our organization speaks that. So, it’s not the same everywhere, but I’m happy that it’s like that here." Ewing noted among the women Ujiri added to his staff this past summer include Manager of Player Development Shelby Weaver, Data Analyst Brittni Donaldson, Physiotherapist Amanda Joaquim and Dir of Communications Jennifer Quinn. Raptors VP/Basketball Operations & Player Development Teresa Resch said, "This off-season we had positions that we needed to fill, and it just happened that it was all women hired, which was amazing, but it wasn't by plan or design." Meanwhile, the Raptors last week held an event dubbed "She The North," which "brought together hundreds of women in sports, from player agents to coaches, physicians, and journalists," at the team's Biosteel Centre practice facility. The team will host another "She The North" event in conjunction with the G League Showcase in January. The Raptors have run "We The North" campaigns in the past (CP, 11/10).
